Digital Construction

Our work focuses on the transformative potential of additive manufacturing in the construction sector, specifically 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP). Our research spans multiple scales, integrating sustainable, high-performance materials, printing process control, complex printing path design, and structural form-finding. We aim to enhance the structural integrity, material efficiency, and environmental sustainability of automated construction.

Architected Material/Structure

Our research focuses on architected materials and structures, where internal architecture are carefully designed to achieve exceptional performance. Beyond the microscopic composition of materials, we redesign the geometry of material and structural components at the meso- and macro-scales, endowing them with programmable properties that surpass those of their constituents. By exploring lattice, metamaterial, and bio-inspired designs, we develop materials and structures that are more resilient, efficient, and adaptable.

Sustainable Construction Materials

Our research focuses on sustainable building materials. We explore the incorporation of waste and recycled resources into construction materials and the development of novel material systems that reduce environmental impact. By designing materials with reduced carbon footprint and improved lifecycle performance, we aim to advance sustainable construction practices while maintaining high structural performance.
